I am a philosopher of science.  My primary areas of research include scientific explanation, causal/statistical inference, and philosophy of biology (especially evolutionary and molecular).

I am originally from southern Illinois, but I now live in Kansas City where I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Missouri Western State University.

In addition to my philosophical pursuits, I am an amateur gardener, pianist, and cook.  My wife works on African food security policy.  And my daughter has a passion for jigsaw puzzles, sidewalk chalk, and popsicles.

“I see philosophy and science as in the same boat — a boat which, to revert to Neurath’s figure as I often do, we can rebuild only at sea while staying afloat in it.”
